What Are Common Causes of Hip Pains in Children?

When most people think of someone with hip pains, they almost always think of an older person.  The truth is that children are also susceptible to hip pains, and many of the causes may be quite serious.  If your child has hip pains, it is imperative that you make an appointment with their pediatrician immediately.

A few of the causes could be a septic hip joint, which involves excess fluid in the joint that may require surgery to remove. It could also be caused by arthritis or more serious illnesses such as leukemia or other forms of cancer.  Then again, it could also be something as simple as an injury that caused a small amount of trauma to the hip joint.

If you suspect hip pains or your child complains of pain in the hip, it is better to have it checked out by their pediatrician and find nothing wrong than to discover too late that something is wrong enough to require surgery.
