What is PCDefender2008?

PCDefender2008 falls into a couple of categories: it’s a rogue antispyware program and a hijacker.

Rogue antispyware programs pass themselves off as legitimate antispyware programs in order to separate you from your money. Then, after you have given your credit card information, you get a bundle of spyware, malware and adware.

Hijackers are called “hijackers” because they hijack your system settings, home page and web search results. In the case of PCDefender2008, the web searches take you to malevolent web pages that force install more malware onto your computer. Because of the malware on your computer, you will find that your computer’s speed is greatly reduced.

Real antispyware programs are what are used to remove and protect you from rogue antispyware programs. If you don’t have an antispyware yet, I strongly suggest you get one as soon as possible.

How Does SpyProtector Get on Your Computer?

Let’s say you are browsing the web and come across a video you want to see. When you click on it nothing happens--or nothing seems to. Perhaps you got an email with a video attachment that doesn’t work. Maybe you opened some spam without knowing it was spam before you opened it. Any of these actions could have introduced your computer to the Vundo Trojan. Now you are getting pop-ups telling you that your computer is infected and only SpyProtector will save your computer.

Yes, it really is as easy as that to get infected with SpyProtector. The good news is you are not fully infected until you give your credit card information in order to receive the full version. Up until that point you are only infected with the Vundo Trojan. A good antispyware will clear it right up for you.
